Our Story

I just wanted a matcha I loved, every single day.

Memento started with a simple idea: the things you reach for every day should feel intentional, from the quality of the tea to the design on your counter.

Where it started

I’ve called the Bay Area home for the past ten years, and spent the last four working in sustainable fashion. I’ve always loved thoughtful design, and finding beauty in the everyday.

When I discovered matcha, it quickly became my favorite part of the morning.

It gave me something to genuinely look forward to each day, and a quiet moment to slow down before everything else began.

That feeling is what inspired Memento.

Why I made it

Working in fashion changed the way I think about the products we use every day.

The more matcha became part of my routine, the more I wanted every part of the experience to feel intentional, from the quality of the tea to the design sitting on my kitchen counter.

So I created the kind of matcha I’d been searching for: something exceptional in quality, thoughtfully designed, and naturally part of everyday life.

We source our matcha from Kyoto and our hojicha from Kagoshima, working with respected producers in Japan, then pair the tea with design made to earn a permanent place on your shelf.

Why Memento

The name comes from the idea of remembering.

A slow morning before the day begins. A conversation with a friend. A favorite cup that becomes part of your routine.

My hope is that Memento becomes a small but meaningful part of your everyday routine, and a moment you look forward to each morning.

A matcha to remember.
